Phsyiotherapy with Stu
Wellness is at the centre of everything that I do. I spend my days helping people recover from injury, improving their running technique and being a run coach.
I am a physiotherapist, rehab/lifestyle consultant and running bio-mechanist. I am proud to have worked with some of New Zealand’s leading sports people – including Professional IRONMAN athletes Anna Russell and Melanie Burke.
I completed my Bachelor of Health Science (Physiotherapy) in 2002 and my Postgraduate Diploma in Musculoskeletal Manipulative Physiotherapy in 2012. I worked as physiotherapist for New Zealand Mens Hockey 2004/2005 and Takapuna Premiere Rugby 2003/2004. I spent five years working as a physiotherapist in London, which included a position at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club as the Academy physiotherapist for two years. After this, I was a senior physiotherapist for Her Majesty’s Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (Headley Court), rehabilitating defence force personel returning from Afghanistan and Iraq.
I have extensive knowledge of sporting injuries from my diverse sports background including representative cricket, hockey and athletics. More recently, I have completed several IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon events leading into my first full IRONMAN in 2016. Since then, I have rediscovered my passion for windsurfing.
My central ethos is a ‘Work/Life/Health’ balance to keep myself and my patients mentally and physically fit. Wellness Room was born from the absolute passion I have for helping people reach their physical potential, mixed with this ethos, and a recently found love for yoga and meditation and what it brings to help balance our everyday stress.
